Hey guys, not been around these parts for a good year or more, so excuse any mistakes!
I've recently been getting back into 40k and realised how generic and uninspired my paint scheme was. I have around 2000 points worth of Tau, with around 400 points actually painted (two XV8s, 17 FW, 15 kroot, two pihranas, give or take a few models). The rest are all glued together and sprayed black, however.
The current scheme is standard T'au sept vomit brown for amour with white markings. I am intending to strip the paint off the already painted models (using brown dettol I believe (I'm from the UK)).
In addition to my young colour scheme naivety, some XV8 suits also have terrible WYSIWYG weapon choices. This combined with the fact I can't remember or find my old army lists, kinda makes me want to start anew. Of course I'm not really willing to pay a bunch more money for a couple new suits...
What I'm asking is: Is there an easy way to detach glued parts from a model? (All the suits are just the standard Games Workshop models, the grey plastic that come on sprues. And probably stuck together using the standard Games Workshop plastic glue.) If not, what should I do?
Thanks in advance, guys. Your help is much appreciated!
Vampire Counts Progress Log [W:2 D:1 L:1]
So I had a go at it this evening, didn't turn out too bad! Basically used the sprue cutters from GW, a craft knife, and a file to take off the wargear.
Just kinda cut away around the join points using the knife, and then used the knife or cutters to lever it away from the model. This usually ended up a bit messy on the model, and you might lose the groves for weapon placements, however judicious cutting & filing you can get it back to near normal! Now I have a bunch of blank XV8s waiting for an army list!
