I have decided to convert my fex to give him twin VCs as the 4th edition is finally with us
Unfortunately as the VC is designed to go in the right side of model only they get in each others way and look messy.
My first idea was to hack up a few different weapons so the bottom arm sockets hold the standard VC arms and the top sockets would hold a modified VC. Which seems straight forward.....
Unfortunately after converting a VC to be carried on the left hand side I realized that the gun on the right would be 1/2" lower than the one on the left making the Carnie look some what lopsided and more something to laugh at than fear.
So I came up with a new idea:-
I have taken my two VCs and filled and smoothed (green stuff) the sockets where the supporting arm normally connects and placed both Venom Cannons in the top arm sockets. The guns look even and well balanced and the lower arm sockets have been filled and blended
This is where my problem arises..... without anything in the bottom sockets the fex looks somewhat sparce despite the two horrendous guns he is carrying!!!
If anybody has any suggestions on how I can make the fex look a little more `tooled up` wiothout violating the WYSIWYG rules I would be very grateful.
I`ll try and borrow my friends cam to get some pics on here to show what I mean
Sadly this will violate the WYSIWYG other wise I would have gone with the ScyTals. Thanks for the input thoOriginally posted by Kyarl Deathaxe@Sep 9 2004, 13:20
dont really know much about tyranids but
could you like possibly add some spine fists
or sything talons to it?? just a suggestion
as i said dont really know much about them.
Hmmm maybe add some rending claws but say they are not rending claws... and... umm are just there for looks. Or if you are really good with greenstuff pur two external organs there that look like they are making venom cannon needles. You could model extended carapace down there if he needs it, don't remember their AC.
Anyway those are just some ideas.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'>You can write some simple noobish of your own, however, by slamming your face into your keyboard
What about giving them the small sythen talons such as the ones found on gaunts. Then they would look more like little limbs than sythen talons.
A Promise to a dead man means nothing.
yea, like small manipulators, or ammo feed lips, only organic.
you could even just whip up a pair of big bulbous sack-looking greenstuff blobs to represent ammo feeders, especially if you hook up the top of the sacks to the guns.
or, you could take two big sceething talons, and convert em to point down, then cut em halfway, and line up the cut to the bottom of his feet, like he's sticking them in the ground to steady himself for firing.
thats what i did with my defiler, made his two claws sit flat infront.
Take my words with a grain of salt, i am not the tactical genius i think i am!
Have you ever seen the US GW catalogue? It's the size of a phone book, we don't have catalogues like that in Australia. Anyway, there was a pic in the 'nid section of a carnifex with 2 barbed stranglers. If you ever see it it WILL give you ideas.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
What are you talking about? I converted my Carnifex to have 2 VCs and I had no problems. Make the bottom one aim downwards, so the bayonet in the cannon is almost touching the ground. The one on top aims a bit up, but not straight up because then it looks crap.
R U 0K!??!? BUHHHHST WUUUULFFFFF!!!
I like the idea of extra glands with tendrils feeding into the VC's... that would make it appear that the Carnie has evolved further Ranged combat abilities and give him that more balanced look.... i love the idea....
This smilie rox! :hump:
Hope this helps!
That is exactly why I wanted to convert mine, having both on one side leave them pointing in different directions and congested. It looks much cooler as it is now but it doesn`t look finished <_<Originally posted by kerpal_g@Sep 12 2004, 08:19
