Hey guys, any chance of tips on how to make a good conversion of the Imperial Guard general from Dawn of War? I'm thinking more of the basic one in Winter Assault than the souped-up ones in Dark Crusade and onwards.
Also, any tips on how to do such a conversion with the use of as little green stuff as possible would be much appreciated, as I am terrible with it.
I was thinking of using a space marine scout body for the cloak then replacing the front with the "medals" chest from the command squad sprue, then using bolters together for his storm bolter. I'm completely stumped on where to get a matching set of lightning claws, however.
Isn't he pretty much identical with Creed?
Quite similar, but I really don't like the pose. I want the freedom to have him how I want him to look.
This is an ambitious project, and I think that using greenstuff will be unavoidable if you want to do a decent job. I've thought about doing something like this, and the only way that I can see to do it is by planning and executing a scratch-buid project. For example, the lightning claws. You'll never find a suitable set within the warhammer range. However, I do have one peice of advice. If you want a decent cloak, use one from the empire pistoliers. They fit perfectly onto cadian bodies, and look great.
Yes, you'll have to take some time over this project. You could get by with kitbashing, but for the lightning claws. The only way to get them, is to make them yourself.

Thanks Chad, I'll keep that in mind.
I've spent about a day planning how I'm going to do the lightning claws alone, and I've taken screenshots of the general to make sure I get it accurate. When I finish I'll try to get some pictures up, but knowing me it won't be for a couple of weeks.
