Hey guys, I'm starting to paint (repaint) my chaos army and I've run into a snag as far as advice from GW goes. All GW advice is based of the citadel paint system, so I have no clue what shades of (blue) for instance they are talking about : midnight blue, royal blue, regal, blue etc. Is there a guide any where that compares these 'code' named paints to their actual color?
I'm working on some obliteraters right now... and I'm thinking I need some help color wise. I'll post pics a little later.
If you log on to the GW website. Or visit your local hobby center. You can view the shades of blue that they are referring to.
I don't think it has to be an exact match. You ought to be fine with a close approximation.
When GW actually name the paints, it is the name of the actual paint they use. There is, or at least was, a colour called Midnight Blue etc. The charts provided should give you an idea of the shades of the colours.
Vallejo Game colours are more or less direct approximations of the Citadel range, including OOP production Citadel paints, and the cheeky names for them make it easy to see wwhat colour they relate to- I was cheering long into the night when I found Squid pink...
its sad the number of Citadel paints OOp, some of my favourite colours there- tentacle pink, brazen brass, vile green, imperial purple.
That thread of canews should be stickied if it isn't already, great resource.
