Are you wanting to paint diamonds or colored crystals?

Give us a picture of a crystal you want to paint. Would be easier for at least me to help you if I had a picture.

Sorry I meant to post back to this a while back but life got me busy. I have done something similar after reading the Necron codex. What I might suggest doing is get some in expensive black paint. Paint it up, then go on with a scab red (or similar dark color) then on the out side portion apply a lighter red (outer 30%). Lastly apply a gloss to the whole thing and get yourself a nice shine. Should have something quick and good looking. The ones I did were in green and I edged it in white while paint was still wet gave it an interesting color.

Is it a good idea to also put a few glazes of a 1:1 red/ black wash and the aply the gloss?

For brighter color I would probably make sure to prime white and apply the colors in thin glazes building up over the white until it looks the way you want. After it is dry I would apply a gloss varnish.

    Cheers,
