Finally managed to build up a full 10 man (thing?) box of gargoyles and get them sprayed. Considering my plans are to eventually build a series of different fleets under various colour schemes, I've decided that this box will be used to test out my variant schemes and a couple of others to boot. I shall be building Diclonius, Miranda, Eschaton, Obruo, Trichinella and Hirudinae, whilst Inquisitor Blackadder will be creating Stercus Accidit. Tetragrammaton is part of my fluff, but won't be created as it was in fact my original third edition army, whilst Orannis and Mictlantecuhtli are just a couple extra schemes I've thought up for no real reason apart from there being 10 gargoyles in the box.
Despite trying out all my fleet schemes, many of these armies won't even include gargoyles in the end, but hey, this is just to ensure that my schemes actually look good enough to use for an army. I do have information on my fleets up on my blog if anyone's interested . Will include progress pics under each of these when I'm done with them, likely starting from the top and doing each section for each model in turn. The colour descriptions are temporary and will be removed as I go along .
Tetragrammaton - Black skin, red/yellow carapace, bone claws, bright green fleshy bits and weapon tubes, red eyes.
Diclonius - Dark green skin, dark brown carapace/claws, white fleshy bits/weapon tubes, yellow eyes.
Miranda - White skin/fleshy bits/eyes, light blue carapace/claws/hooves.
Eschaton - Very dark grey skin, dark grey carapace/claws, orange fleshy bits/weapon tubes/eyes.
Trichinella - Dark red skin, orange carapace/claws/eyes, bright green fleshy bits/weapon tubes (may change the green).
Hirudinae - Purple skin, brown/yellow carapace/claws, pink fleshy bits/weapon tubes, cyan eyes.
Stercus Accidit - Light brown skin, brown carapace, turquoise claws/fleshy bits/weapon tubes, yellow eyes.
Orannis - Whitish bone skin, green carapace/claws, purple fleshy bits/weapon tubes/eyes.
Mictlantecuhtli - Dark brown skin, blue/purple carapace/claws, orange fleshy bits/weapon tubes/eyes.
I'm subscribed Looking forward to seeing what appears! =D
Couple of pics of the Obruo scheme gargoyle at it's current stage. Mainly just got the skin and carapace basecoated for now, using Desert Yellow for the skin after a quick basecoat of Dheneb Stone. Carapace is a couple of coats of Graveyard Earth and a wash of Devlan Mud. Will probably move onto basecoating the rest of the areas before starting to work further on the carapace and skin.
I appreciate that it's not finished but will there be more contrast between the colours?
More pics of this little desert coloured guy . Taking a long time since I've been doing stuff with friends recently and I have multiple assignments to be in by next week, but after that it should start to speed up a little.
Mainly down to highlighting and shading now, plus touching up bits here and there. Still need to do the tongue and eyes too. Another pic up in the main post again.
This is interesting. I will like to see what you do with all these different ideas. Are you going to do things like have some fleets with patterns on the carapace where others don't to create more variety?
Whilst I do have basic fluff set out for the fleets I'll be working further on, there is still a lot that needs to be decided. The Septem Edo idea is a long term plan overall anyway, so it'll likely continue to evolve as I work on each of the specific fleets. From what I have planned out so far I'll be starting off with Obruo and Eschaton, partly because those are the fleets which don't require much in the way of conversion and partly because I finally have access to other people near me who I can play against and I really need an army .
It seems that these minis are somewhat difficult to photograph. Is that assumption correct?
Various colors? I demand more.
