There was a topic on rust a while ago and there were lots of suggestions of metalics and ink washes. That's all fine and dandy, but that's not what i see when I think of rust. This however, is.

Nice, that's a lot of stages though.
I couldn't see the page referenced (the site is loading r e a l l y s l o w l y . . .) But, for quick and dirty rust on weapons, I just used a simple watered down chestnut ink over boltgun metal. This worked great for my WFB orcs.
Splattering chesnut ink works well for rust also. I used it for my Fantasy Nurgle Lord's Scythe.
