Welcome to Librarium Online!
okay i have never posted in the painting section of the forum before but im assuming u are all possibly the best painters ever so with out further ado i make my request
can someone tell me how to paint the squigs in a similar colour scheme to the 'eavy metal dark red ones.
only i tried and every time i make them too bright and its annoying me coz i really like the dark red look
sorry if this is a stupid request.
I am not sure what paints your are using but here are some suggestions for getting a good dark red.
First I would recommend a dark prime. Either prime white and wash with black ink or prime black.
For your basecoat I would take your darkest red and mix it 50/50 with a dark brown
Wash with a brown or purple ink wash. Brown will get you a dimmer red while purple will give you a more scarlet red.
First highlight will be the darkest red
From there you can highlight as much as you desire. If you want a gradual color change I would mix the next lightest red in your collection 50/50 with the previous layer.
To keep it dark I would probably recommend not going as light as your brightest red. If you do - them make sure you do so sparingly only at the highest highlight points.
