White scars, anyone know how to paint them well and fast. I'm not much of a white painter so i hope it will have a white base coat. help!
"That is the sound of inevitability"
Well, White base coat is a given.
As for well and fast, the two dont meet in my book.
White is always difficult to make good, I would wash the white with a very thin gray wash then blend back up to white, although there areguements about blending dark to gray
Everything you have been told is a lie!
I have this technique for painting my white scars that works really good, but i warn u its not fast at all, i takes a while to paint one model so be patient cuz theres no fast way u could paint a white model in a way that look good and detailed. What i do is applaying a basecoat of bleached bone, after that a wash of watered down brown ink, and then mix half bleached bone half skull white and apply over the brown ink, leaving an small recess of brown between the edges and the white mix (brownlining) to add contrast, after that, just highlight with skull white. Good luck
You could do what I did, and just not paint them white. In fact, I really despise GW for telling people how to paint their armies, so I just paint mine how I want to.
1. Spray Skull White
2. Paint pad rims, kneepads, back pack exhausts and eagles Blood Red
3. Paint bolgun, eyes, packpacks piping and joints Chaos Black
4. Drybrush the black areas except the gun and eyes casing Boltgun Metal
5. Base to make it look like steppe like, with small patches of static grass etc.
Fast and effective, inks and drybrushing aren't so vital on SMs as on some other armies and it will still look good. Well it's how my army is done and it looks good.
