This is the latest bug I have finished called Pyro Scorpion. It's been in the pipeline a while now and it's completion was slowed down when the new Tyranid codex was released. Pyro Scorpion was meant to be a Carnifex with a barbed strangler and venom cannon but then the rules changed and didn't allow that combination of weapons anymore.
However he has been reborn as a Tyrannofex with a rupture cannon. The barbed strangler now fires the tick organism which splatters and the venom cannon fires the seeds which make it implode. The spine banks are now cluster spines and the thorax swarm comes out of the place where the bio-plasma is.
Making and painting him was fun. I gave him some areas on his back and underside out of carapace parts which look like the are open to expose his softer insides. This is meant to show that it can close itself up when it needs to for extra defence and open up when it means to attack.
The eyes are made from adrenal glands which have been merged with the head and painted to look like compound eyes. I gave them depth by adding layers of water effects after the model was varnished. Loads of layers were added and then I shaded around the rim of the water effects and added a few more layers. This is too make it look more like the eyes have a protective transparent layer like real compound eyes. Comments, criticism welcome.

Thankyou, glad you like him.
I am planning to use him as a Tyrannofex with a rupture cannon. I think it will be ok to do that, what do the rest of you think?
Leech, as usual you have pulled off an amazing conversion and then improved it with a beautiful paint job. Kudos for that sir. I really like the compound eyes idea, and it works really well. I just love how simple your scheme looks, and yet it is so very effective. Great work!
