Welcome to Librarium Online!
I would like to have an Oil/Promethium themed table/section one day (resources worth fighting over) so to go with my finished Refinery/distillery and nearly finished storage tanks, I plan to make a Fluid Catalytic Cracker, basically 3 tanks joined by pipes.
My FCC starts with these 3 250ml tall aluminium cans, contact adhesive used to glue the card down.
I needed a way to make consistant round tops, so Im using the bottom of a standard coke can.
I used an RTV adhesive sealant to glue these down, did think about using a hot glue gun but it can set too fast, this way I had plenty of time to position them.
Next is reinforcing bands then plaster to fill the top edge then lotsa rivets.
Looks cool... Is there going to be lots of pipes connecting them all? or is it all going to be within the 3 cans? (aka not there.)
Initial ideas are to have a few interlinking pipes and maybe a walkway 3 inches up on one side, as with most of my projects its getting designed on the fly!
Tops have been plastered ready for sanding
Banding and rivets to go.
Bugbait, do us a favour and put ALL your terrain on a table and take a picture. Incomplete as well as finished. Maybe start a thread titled: "All your terrain group picture." Or some such.
Thank you kindly.
Looks good so far, Bug. The tanks will look awesome with gubbins and wires and other tencho stuff on them. can't wait to see this finished.
And superscenic has a good idea...we should create that thread.
*looks to Superscenic* Make that happen. *puffs on his cigar from his leather chair*
Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.
Thanks guys, my soon to be games room is still getting painted so hopefully sometime in the next few weeks I will be able to do a group shot of my mostly unfinished terrain.
The plaster didnt stick that well to the top, I guess I should have roughed up the surface, so plan B is automotive undercoat to keep it stuck down and some white modeling putty to fill the gaps.
Making some small control boxes to go with each can, metal mesh to fill each hole.
Nice to see some progress on your terrain... I haven't yet assembled any more of mine too busy with family stuff. But I have every intention to keep going.
@ sonoftheemperor, Hope to see some progress pics soon
Based on 3mm MDF wood, cut out with a box cutter, small finishing plane to champer the edge
Walkway 5mm foamboard, welded steel mesh for the hand rail, plastic mesh for the flooring will be glued down with PVA, walkway will go on the other side probably.
Im liking what Im seeing.
