axe, gloves face etc arent finished, and edges of highlights and such may recieve a touchup but this is just for my rank and file so it isnt getting that much time spent on it. (back of hair not done yet either)
Anyhow, the main issue I'm having is I'm not convinced the beard looks right,
what colour to do the rest of the shield emblem (or to use the same ones).
Whether to colour the black mail silver/use greys/ highlight the black slightly.
I also think the belt doesnt look right. I'll probably re paint that in the base and just do a very slight highlight. Some of the parts of the sculpting on the skull pass models leave a bit to be desired which doesnt make things easier either.
Areas around the shield where I've gone over onto the black will be touched up. Since the shield doesnt actually have an edge to it on a lot due to it being a single part model this is a pain.
Nothing wrong with it, I like it. I may be biased though.
Nothing wrong with the beard either, I think it looks great. The chainmail I'd just drybrush with bolt gun metal, or chainmail. The shieldsymbol either gold or silver, the belt is fine. It works. Dwarf armies have a good deal of brown in them.
I liked the skull pass models actually, they fit in with the plastic warrior kit too.
Hrm, I agree with the dry brushing of chainmail for the chain, then a blue ink wash if you have it.
Otherwise it looks more then fine. The onlything that bugs me is the blue. Don't get me wrong, it looks fantastic, but something about it bothers me. Maybe a wash or something.
40k: Silver Angels of Our Martyred Lady 7/2/3 - Daemons of the Great Squiggle! 3/1/0
Fantasy: Windhost of Athel'Loren 2/0/0 - Daemons of Another Great Squiggle! 0/0/0
Warmahordes: Legion of Everblight (Absylonia)
He's looking really good. Nice work. The beard, I can see why you might feel it is odd. The contrast between the highlights and shading is quite strong, it does work quite well though and will make them stand out well.
the blue looks very nice.
I AM BOOMER!
The blue looks brighter than usual because the model is at a window for photographing. I've been a bit busy both reading the Gotrek and felix models and being a lazy sod now that exams are finished.
Anywho, I'll get an update pic up although not much has been done. (I might get it finished tomorrow and manage to post that pic up)
Both my bfsp dwarf sets arrived (courtesty of ebay £30 for the two sets) so I'll be setting to work on the cannon first I think because...well...dakka dak...oh erm I mean dwarvish engineering is supreme!
One issue I'm having is painting the eyes. I'm not a fan of the stark white and black eyes popping out of his head but have no idea how else to do it. Contemplaying not giving them any eyes, but that looks equally if not even more odd.

Ahh... Gotrek and Felix. A very good series. I would also suggest Oathbreaker and Honourkeeper. Both good dwarf novels by BL. I look forward to seeing more, now that you have your hands full with a nice tidy army of them.
Eyes can be annoying to paint. There are many ways to do them, I know some people prefer the more bone looking bleached bone for them. In general it is the white and black, it can just be a knack to getting it just right.
