I'm currently making a new army from WD's Creature Feature- Barking Toads!
I just mould green stuff into shape and paint it. I've got 6 at the mo, but since I'm making an army I need ideas for units.
So far I have a Toad command squad (complete with toad with banner- y-fronts on a pole- and a TechToad - Toad with spanner)
I'm also working on Truck Toads (Toads mounted in a truck drinking petrol), and I have a few ideas for other units such as deep-striking ParaToads, Rocket Packed Flying Toads, Slimie Toads (stick to tanks and act like Melta-Bombs) and a Toad Launcher for Heavy Support.
I would very much appreciate ideas for new units and how to pose them -especially the command Toad.
Thanks in advance
W T F? Are you crazy or did you smoke too much weed? An "army" of Barking Toads just doesn't make any sense at all...
It'd be nice to see some pictures. What rules would you use for this army? Orks? Lost and Damned?
I was not on weed, I just have a sense of humour...
Can't get any pictures unless I can try to borrow a mates PC ( I still have Windows95... it's a damn shame)
The rules will be like the ones from WD, with a few modifications (my opponants will have to read the list before playing though). They still explode, but at a reduced chance, and I can actually control the units (rather than them jumping randomly- this still happens on a 4+ in the move phase though! They're not a serious army, but just one built for pure hilarity (some Toads have guns but if they roll a 1 to hit they explode, and the Toad shaman will be fun!. I'll post the rules and list once it's finished.
If this is your sense of HUMOUR... man you're sick!
Thats quite amusing, they would be fun to paint. Base them on real frogs, give some poison, others can jump, and whatever research you can find...
A slann mage priest could work well for your command toad, think about modelling toads as bearers too.
Slaan Mage Priest... Hmmm...
Interesting. That might work.
I have however made 13 Toads out of Green Stuff, including an Ãœber Toad (commander), and a Toad Shaman. The Ãœber Toad has Kroot hair, weilds a Toad Torch (Cadian flamer plugged into his poison sacks) and has a stick.
The Shaman is holding a skull in one hand and in the other he has a stick with a hand on top of it.
Slaan Mage Priests are dead expensive though... about £18?
As for the rules, the main army rules will be posted in the Army List section soon if you want to see them. (they will probably change however as playtesting uncovers issues that need testing- such as 5 toads beating a GK GM in combat by exploding and giving 3 str 10 AP 1 hits...)
Actual price of slaan preist - £15
I've thought of the perfect use for him though...
Remember in the creature feature how the Greater Toad was mentioned?
I've built rules for him (centering on him wearing a blindfold and earmuffs to stop him exploding instantly) I won't go into them now but you can read them once the list is put on the net. (I asure you he isn't overly harsh, as only 5 in 6 on the field will die, including the Toads, and thats not counting cover and invulnerable saves) Also the opponant can make certain measures to ensure that the Toad can be swiftly dealt with without explosive results. This is basically taking all wounds of him at once.
I should be getting pictures up soon courtesy of Dad, for those who want to see them.
Ah the greater toad who can wipe a whole battlefield How sweet. I'm not sure about a blindfold and earmuffs... These are wild creatures and being put in those conditions would panic it to explode.
Maybe it is half asleep or sedate and passive? Or it could be a variant that instead of exploding launches the explosive bits in small amounts, with the same principle as biovores and spore mines. That way it could still be dangerous and have limitless power but not be too strong on the battlefield.
