I'm a new player and finally got a hold of a fair amount of Tau units and am ready to start painting.
I really want to do a Black and Yellow colour scheme.
I started by priming them a lighter gray so I could have a middle shade to work from. Does anyone have any suggestions for brands of paint or process or anything that may help me out? I understand that Yellow can be a little bit of a headache to use and want to make sure not to misstep so much that I wind up taking more time to do this than need be!
Here is a pic of my units
Do you have any problems using GW paints?
You could build the yellow up from Iyanden Darksun which is a foundation paint(they give better coverage.) and painting up to Sunburst Yellow.
The black is more simple... just paint it black, and possible paint dark grey on to the most raised up areas.
Honestly I had just heard a lot of gripe about painting black with yellow, I will definitely give the Iyanden Darksun a try though.
If its at all possible, you don't really want to be painting yellow over black, but with Iyanden Darksun underneath it,it takes many less coats.
I'm interested to see how this turns out. Two extremely bright stand out colous that scream danger when used together. Perhaps not the most tau-esque colour scheme? But an impressive one if done correctly none the less!
yeah im going to try and paint some today so i will post a pick of how its coming. And the inspiration for this DID have to do with caution tape haha.
Looks good... Could we have a picture from the front?
Looks very nice to me. The most important view is your own. If you like them, go for it.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
