As many of us get into Warhammer Fantasy either again or for the first time, I find myself with a dilemma. I love Skaven rules and I love Goblin models.
So after a bit of brainstorming, playing Skaven with greenskins seems possible. I have easy enough ideas for main units but I need a bit of help with the more specialized ones.
What to use for Weapon Teams?
What to use for Poison Wind Globadiers?
What to use for a Hell Pit Abomination?
What to use for a Doomwheel?
The army theme would be heavy on poison and plague units but instead of plague, the death would come from overwhelming amounts of Night Goblin Mushrooms. It would be lower on technology but still having some like Mortar Teams and maybe a Doomwheel.
Also, does anyone know of a company who actually sells mushroom bits to scale? I'd like to sue quite a lot of them for weapons and for decoration. I think with some work this could be a fun army to play and look quite comedic on the tabletop.
As for mushroom bitz, if you've bought any skull pass sets, and with your love for green skins it seems you might have, the goblin huts in their have quite a bit of mushroom detail....maybe just shave 'em off. You could even make a simple green stuff mold and make more!
Wizards of the Coasts makes a line of plastic minis. You might be able to get the Mycanoids(mushroom people) models cheaply at a hobby shop that is selling the boxes of said minis. I was able to pick up certain models for as cheap as 50 cents.
Goodluck! I like your idea.

Hmmm that's not a bad idea, I'd have to see their scale though. I wanted them more as a little extra to push the armies theme than an attention grabber. Really small mushroom people would be awesome though, kind of reflect the mutating nature of why mushrooms are killing Chaos Warriors and so forth. :]
