Ok, my local GW is holding a painting contest for a unit of at least unit strength 20 models (or 6 ogre sized models). I figured that this would be a good time to kick off the painting of my night goblins, of which I will be making a painting blog. But first, i need to decide on a color scheme. I have painted up 5 test models and I would like your votes on which one you think looks the best. I'm not asking which one is painted the best, but which color combination do you think looks the best. Thank you and I hope that you will all follow my paining blog for these guys.
The brighter colors give more of a pop to the figure. I think the blue looks cool, but gets drowned out because of its darkness. I don't care for the purple or yellow. I like the orange, but I think it has too much of a halloween look to it. So my pick is the red. Color wheel at work, notice I was drawn to pick red to go with the green goblin, since they are complementary colors.
I actually liked the orange. Maybe for the Halloween look.

I quite like the blue but I'm probably biased after painting 200+ dark blue night goblins. Something I have found is that hordes of dark-hooded models like the blue or purple ones make really dark blocks on the table. The yellow might give the mob a brighter look plus I think it looks good with the green. Have you tried rotten flesh with a flesh wash? It makes a really easy sick yellow colour that fits goblins (and compliments blue really well).
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
Another easy way to get a rich yellow is to lay a light brown or yellowish brown down, do your wash and highlights and then hit the entire thing with a yellow ink (I use the discontinued GW ink, but P3 still makes yellow ink or you can get it from Hobby Lobby.) It turns out great. That is how I got the rich yellow on my Imperial Fists Space Marine.
