Welcome to Librarium Online!
First time poster here! Looking for a bit of advice.
I was wondering if anybody knows about size differences between the 40k and Fantasy Orcs?
I was looking into buying a box of Orc Warriors for conversion into Ork Boyz for different combat weapons, and the flagbearer (to be used as a Waaagh! Banner). Also, for more legs/torsos to go with my excess of Shoota arms.
Will this work? Or are the legs/etc too different in size to have this work for Boyz?
the FB orks are same size etc as 40k Orks, only thing is is that they wear skirts (or Tunics dunno)
so I wont overdo it with the FB ork torso as it wil make your army look like girls. :p
I have some converted into Kommandos, and you can use GS to model pants or something on them.
but you should encounter no probz =) apart from the square bases FB models have, but you can order bags of 25mm round bases for couple of cents.
Awesome, thanks for the feedback!
Also, if you're looking for a cheap alternative there are usually a whole bunch of the fantasy orcs from the fantasy starter set that had orcs and empire in it all over ebay. You can simply lop off their arms and use you're 40k arms and should save a fair amount
Remember with ebay things you can always paint strip models that have been painted before - so dono' tbe worried about buying ones that are covered in gunk that no-one else wants.

In my army I have a running theme. The Choppas are the Feral, untamed boyz, but the shootas have a little more class. So all my shootas are in consistent uniforms with either plain helmets (No horns or gubbins, that stuffs jingly and gives away your spot) or Caps.
So yeah, Fantasy Orkz look great. If you got a bunch of sluggas (like I do), you can have a cool variety of choppas. The only problem is bases, so you'll spend a little extra getting those.
Fantasy boyz (and other kits) can add a lot of variety to your army and some great bits. As mentioned, they can be an affordable option too. About a third of my many slugga boyz have only choppas (or are holding standards or shields etc.) and no sluggas. If I were to play in a tourney, I have enough boyz not to need the ones that aren't WYSIWYG'd, so I don't need them. And if someone were to complain... I'd simply not use the pistols with the ones not modeled on... I'm not worried about losing 5 or 6 slugga shots, lol!
Check out the entire fantasy product line for some creative options to suplement the already awesome Ork models.
