    Scenery: Bloodbowl Board Project WIP

So i've decided to start kicking around some materials and build myself a bloodbowl board.

I am tired of the fold-able paper board and want something more substantial.
My gaming store has been drooling over the Hirst Arts molds that i have and want to see some finished scenery. So.. it's time for a Bloodbowl Board.

    1. It'll be a stone molded board, using plaster to build the board up.
    2. It'll be in a wooden box, with edges to keep dice in and able to be stored.
    3. I want the Reserves, K.Oed and Dead boxes on the sidelines.
    4. I want bleachers opposite the boxes, (for cheerleaders and other minis)
    5. I want a large enzone area for team logos and dice.
    6. Drink cup holders possibly?

I'll be posting the plans I have made up as soon as I scan it

Anything you all can think of to add to the board... reply and let me know.

    Sho: out.

Rome wasn't built in a day, Either should good scenery.

    Update

okay, so i've done some scouting and have been looking around for a good way to make stone for this bloodbowl pitch.
I have seen others using Styrofoam, some using plasticard, others using milliput and still others using plaster.

I've decided to use my Hirst arts molds to make something that will be sturdy, heavy and able to be used over and over without breakage. (my friends got fists-like-hams and break my scenery often)

So.. this pic is one someone made from styrofoam:
    http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g1...DSCF8634-1.jpg
THIS ONE IS NOT MINE. it is an idea that made me decided that foam is not the best material.

I began mass-producing stone flooring from my molds here:

And made 6 at a time.. yes, 6 at a time.

Not bad. only a few airbubbles i nthe dental plaster i got off ebay. ($1 USD / Lb.)

    Next to base them black...

next to layer on the stone coloring...

    And layer.....

    and layer....

Finally, take some brighter AND darker colors, and mix up the solor of the stone, keeping it from being to...boring.

    Next:

    MASS PRODUCTION!
    Sho: out.

    UPDATE:

Since i've been doing these casts since I first posted this thread, I am finished. I have caught up to where I am in the project timeline.
Six days straight of me and a friend taking shifts pouring, mixing and popping molds..
two days of rest then another three days of molding..

We have the board. Completely created, but FAAAAAR from finished..

Well what do you think? I handed out brushes and me and two friends went to town, each with a different shade of gray, to vary up the stones.

    Left to do:
    1. Grass flock in the cracks to deliniate the movement squares.
    2. Painting the wood in the reserves box.
    3. Painting the tombstones in the Killed/ Dead box (I am seeing LO Scenery regulars as names on the tombstones. *evil grin*)
    4. Painting the enzones (they are plain gray now) with team logos or names.
    5. Raiding bitz box for dwarf and ork bits for added scenery on the pitch (skulls, broken axes, lower jaws with bloodstains ,etc.)
    6. Bloodstains!!!!!!
    7. Demarking the reversed stones on the sidelines for the turn markers and the rerolls
    8. Velvet lining the two areas past the enzone, for dice / drinks/ etc.
    9. Painting the Bloodbowl logo in the middle of the pitch
    10. SEALING SEALING SEALING.

    C&C always welcome...

    Next: We flock!

    That's gold. Top work!

I'm not sure you need to get too heavy-handed with the flock- you can make out squares reasonably easily. I'm looking forward to seeing more!
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!

    That looks very cool!

    How heavy is it????

Is the base strong enough to stop twisting when its being moved?

@PMonkey: Thanks man. Appreciate the compliment. And as for the flock, it'll be very very subdued. It's only going to go into the corners were 4 of the tiles meet in a "+" pattern. Small and just enough not to take away from the table itself.

    @Bugbait: Thanks Bug.
The board it is on is 1/2'' Pacific Dogwood (.75 density) it's light and very firm. the table weighs just under 10 lbs. with all the wood and plaster. The dental plaster I got is the same they use in your mouth ( Orthostone - 10,500 PSI dry!!) but it's light. very light.
