So I've recently started painting my very first 40k army of Orks, and it has been going pretty well. However I was hoping someone could give me some good mixes for goggle colours and how to go bout getting that lens look to it. I'm looking for a red-ish mix for my burnas and a blue-ish mix for my kommandos/snikrot. I'm new at this so please try to be relatively specific
Thanks in advance!
on my few models I've used a base coat of a dark colour, the foundation paint usually, then follow up with heavy dry brush coats of lighter colours then when I'm happy I use a gloss varnish on just the lenses to create a shiny effect.
I think it looks nice but each to their own, this might not be the style your looking for but its fairly quick and easy to-do and looks good for gaming but there will be better techniques for display models.
hope it helps you
The most realistic would be to paint the lenses a darker shade of the underlying colour and give it a gloss varnish.
But: For the goggles on my orks I opted for red lenses, painted more or less with the same technique (sp?) as for gem stones. Makes the orks look suitably crazy :-)
Hope this helps.
