Here are a few Eldar special characters that have been around since the very beginning of the 2nd edition without every having a model update.
Honestly, I don't think these minis have needed them. Although they do look slightly static compared to some of the more recent special characters, I think that in those years of scale creep, the Eldar still haven't caught up to Asurmen.
Anyway, here are some pics. All kinds of commentary are welcome:
Really great job on the Eldrad! Could you explain how you did the runes on the cape and the gold because those are amazing! Maybe you could try to make the eyes stand out a little more, or maybe it looks fine the way it is.
I also enjoyed the free handed runes on the cape....
5000 pts of WoC, 5000 pts of Orcs and now 3000 pts of Ogres...What was I thinking ????
Ok, I started out those runes with a small brush and a sort of orange color. The layers on the runes are orange, yellow, white (you can see the white spots are just dots in important areas).
The real trick to freehand like that is that you don't just paint the color of the runes. You need to go back and clean up everything with black. That's really the easiest way to get sharp edges (like the edges on the triangle). Go ahead and let your rune color bleed over just a little, and then go back and clean it up with the color beneath the runes.
I cleaned these runes that way twice. Once after the orange, and again after the yellow. The white is in so few places that it wasn't necessary to do that for it.
