Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hey all, I've picked up Malifaux and started playing the Bayou Gremlin Crew which prompted me to make some swamp terrain pieces based on a TUTORIAL I found online. I thought they turned out pretty well, so I figured I'd share a couple of pictures.
I made two pieces, but this is just the first of the set because I haven't added the finishing leaves to the other one yet (but it's basically the same just with different stump and island configurations).
The one major complaint I have with what I've done is that I used a basic cardstock, such as for printing business cards, to cover the entirety of the CD and thus closing up the center hole. However, this was not strong enough to handle the drying Water Effect liquid. As the liquid dried it pulled the cardstock up slightly away from the CD so I have a slight bump/ridge in the center of the piece. A minor problem, but it mars an otherwise pretty nice project.
Oh, and I'd have made several of the mushrooms much shorter, their stems are unrealistically long. Live and learn
Hope you enjoy!
Looks great man, I'm very impressed. The only thing that lets it down for me is that it is too circular, but I suppose thats a fact of using CD's as your base. Keep up the great work.

Ya, we play with a multitude of smaller, independent terrain pieces to keep our boards fresh. But I agree the shape of it isn't the best. If I make another water feature I'll be using some thin, dense balsa wood for the base most likely and just saw out the shape I'd like which would be more natural and less geometric.
I like it...it makes me feel like I need rubber boots!
Nice work. I have been wanting to do swamp terrain for sometime now, but I'm to busy with city terrain.

I like the effect you have with the leaves on the surface of the water. It helps to give an idea of depth. That link to the tutorial was useful, reppy for you.
i like it, maybe if you do something simular again add bubbles or something to the "water".
