Welcome to Librarium Online!
i wanna now how fast you paint one infantery basic troop in you basic army.
an army that seeks to fight without the protection of the eagle claws is clearly courageous or inept. either way, í wish no part in it - Eolaran Greyhawk, Seamaster.
Basic Troops, the first one takes me about an hour.. Then I can do 3- 5 of the same type in the same amount of time.. But I do work in a rotation on them.
I can't vote since I don't know what the numbers represent. Minutes? Hours? Strokes of the brush?
The Angels of Penitance - The project log
There is only the Emperor. He is our shield and protector.
I'm painting a skellie unit now... I do a layer at a time for the whole unit, production line style. I've done 6 layers for the bone, 4 layers for the shields and loin cloths, but I am yet paint weapons and details which will require 3-4 layers. By the time I am done it probably would have averaged 30-40 minutesish per model..
I generally do my marines by the squad, in production line. Takes me a couple hours to do a squad or so of them.
It took me 1 weekend to paint 20 tactical marines, but saying that I gave each marine a unique tribal design on their right leg. Though for characters and focal point of my army I will tend to spend a couple of weeks painting them for a couple of hours each night

I am the Hammer...
If I paint solidly, I probably do one model a night. So maybe 3 or 4 hours. I generally paint to an above Table Top average due to my own perfectionism, and if I batch painted miniatures I would just end up stripping them anyway to re do them again.
Time spent on a "basic" trooper is all relative. For example my basic troop in my chaos army will be chaos warriors, but they will be entered into golden demon so 2-3 days per model maybe more, where as my orcs and goblins before i sold them would have been 30-60 mins a model, then you have to take into account the model in question, some models even basic troops are rather detailed and require more time.
Since I use everything I paint in my gaming I only paint table top and maybe a table top plus for a Lord or special character. Regular guys are done in groups of 10 and get 4 hours or so (undercoat, regular, highlights, wash). Lord gets 8 hours just for himself.....
5000 pts of WoC, 5000 pts of Orcs and now 3000 pts of Ogres...What was I thinking ????
I'd guess I can do a couple infantry models of the same kind in 2-3 hours, but as Dee said some models are more difficult than others, so there cannot be any general rule.
My project log: High Elves (and other stuff actually, but mainly High Elves).
