Right so i posted this in the VC section before but as i now relise, maybe i should have posted it here where such things are meant to be ^^"
got a few good reactions and hopefully i might get a few here as well to help me out

My very first REAL conversion. Ya the first thing i try and convert is a friggin dragon...genious! Must'v been high or something xD
But any whoo i was wondering a few things
Is it any good? (modelling wise)
Could i have done something to improve it? (paint, pose, cuts and greenstuff)
And lastly...do ya think people would look at it and say "now thats one dead dragon"?
Hope ya like the pics and i look forward to hearing your thoughts about my little dragon
Righteously wonderful!! I think it's terrific! You may also try sculpting away some parts to have the rotting flesh coming off to show some bone so it coordinates with the bone head.
I also like the fellow on top!!
Never thought about it until you mention it, but ya it has a clean bone head and the rest is flesh. Did one rib poking out but thats hidden by the wings if im not mistaken.
Its funny. My friend told me to convert the rider from either my existing Blood Dragon model or Vlad. In the end i said "metal is annoying" and the only thing ive done is switch the head of the HE rider to one from the Corpse Cart and then add two "spikes" or whatever to his back. And viola! A perfectly doable zombie dragon with a Vampire lord.
Thats great! I love it Realy nice work sir.
I wouldn't mind having a closer look if possible though, do you reckon you could take a close up or two? Then we'll be able to see the 'neatness' of it all and have a better look at the painting.
But from what I can see, no faults on the conversion, but the painting seems a little dull. To be honest, when I first looked at the pics I thought that only the rider was painted. Maybe you could do something a little more flashy, this is a centrepiece model after all. Some of the traditional vampire counts gore might also fit (just don't overdo it).
2500 points of Empire for ToXG: Points painted for month 4: 0 Points painted overall: 510
Heeeh you know that i said this was my first real conversion? (A) ya it doesn't get better by going closer to it ^^"
The thing is im not used to using greenstuff so a lot of the joints where i used greenstuff kinda look iffy to me now. In retrospect i should have tried it another way but it still works.
Painting wise i thoughts about doing something more flashy (the scales where grey/white when i began) but then i kinda thought "hey this thing has been lying in a graveyard longer than my vampire has been alive, its supposed to be dark and mucky" so it didn't go all out with the flashy colours. I chose a darker shade for everything and to get that eye catching colour i painted the rider in blue. I dont want to go that light with the scales or the flesh.
Scales are Codex Grey, then washed with Thraka Green and then i think i just layered on Catachen Green and Cammo green with a wash of Badad Black and Thraka green when i felt it was needed. The flesh is (if i remember correctly) graveyard earth on everything that isn't scales or wing membrane. I added rotting flesh to the graveyard earth and built it to a lighter shade.
My friend does very sharp highlights while i kinda like to blend the highlights with the original so it becomes more of a "shade" and not a general highlight.
And talking about centerpiece i know the paintjob sometimes draws you in...but this going towers over everything i have. You dont miss it and when i plunked it down on the table the room kinda whent quiet and everyone gathered up to stare at it.
About the modell itself its a HE dragon through and through, the rider aswell. I swapped the dragon head for the skeleton one you get in the OnG Giant's set. The rider i just took away the Nobles head and put on one you get from the Corpse Cart.
The dragon, if you look closely at it and compare it to the real HE one, is acually turned around. The front part of it where the rider is supposed to sit it the tail. The tail is the head
I clipped the tail down a bit to get it to work better leangthwise otherwise i just built a crude saddle for the guy from Green Stuff.
Happy you guys like my new pet and when i get my hands on a better camera i'll take some pics from the other side and a few close ups so you can see it in more detail.
