hehe, remember that one color that i seen, on that tyrant? well, i got the bright idea to make a wash out of bilious green, under white primer, it looks frugging great!

what i want to know is, as my carapace armor is this new bilious green wash i want the tyranid skin to be a blacktype color, but when i painted him black, sure the contrast between the black and the armor wash kicks ass, but the black is damn boring, my idea, was to paint them a different color, then wash it in black ink,

my question to you is what dark color would look good showing through the black ink? i was thinking some kind of dark blue or even a dark green but i just can't put my finger in it. hehehe

Take my words with a grain of salt, i am not the tactical genius i think i am!

White with a wash of blue then a wash of black, that looks cool like a metallic blue.

i'm buying a box of gaunts today, all for paint scheme experimentation, and a hive tyrant for when i make my decision.

and just incase wolfraider ever sees this, thanks wolf, your speed painting article has motivated me to start a nid army when i made a wash of bilious green, it made for the best paint job i ever done, and it took less than a quarter of the time it takes me to paint a zerk, i allways just picked out the trim and stuff with slopps of paint, using the features of the model to paint pretty much got the model to paint itself.

it was also the first time i ever primered anything white, and it was soo much better than my usual black primer.

so thanks wolfraider, you are truly a painting god.

can't wait to see my final scheme.

I know this is a rather old topic, but I do a dark angels green for the skin, and scorched brown for the chitin. Then I black ink wash over the entire thing. Gives a nice glossy look. Since you're using billious green, I'd suggest something that might contrast with it, maybe a bleached bone or if you really wanted to, the Dark Angels green does go well with the black ink afterwards.

Sarge: "Get on with it, Griff."
Griff: "I'd just like everyone to know: that I suck."
    Church: "And?"
Griff: "And that I'm a girl..."
    Church: "What else?"
Griff: "And I like ribbons in my hair, and I want to kiss all the boys."
Sarge: "This has to be the best surrender of all time."
