I am wanting to make a cool looking Grey Knight Brotherhood Champion, and yesterday on Games Workshop's website saw some models that inspired me. Click here and scroll down to check out the sternguard wearing chaos warrior cloaks. I was thinking of almost copying him exactly, except using Grey Knight bits instead of regular marine ones.
Anyway, my question is, what has he done with the arms? They don't seem to be wearing the usual chunky shoulder pads, but it doesn't look to me like they're just left bare either. But I'm definitely no expert at modelling, so I could well be wrong! Please, if anyone can tell me what's up with their shoulders, that would be much appreciated! Thanks!
That's totally a bare arm with no shoulder pad what-so-ever, I think it's his nice paint job that's messing with you. (I had to look twice myself) But you could always do two of those shield things that come in the terminator sprue instead of the one his have, so they have some protection . That's just what I can tell.
1) He's put a marine torso into the WFB cloaks, they have their own shoulder pads fitted in that are a pain to remove (plain detail)
- not a problem
2) Some do have chaos insignia on the backs - you could cut them out and use g/s. (easy enough to g/s) - I'd recommend looking at them 1st
Looks like girlhunter2102 and stayscrunchyinmilk are on the money.
It looks like he has repositioned the chaos warrior shoulder to mount the pointing fist. The bolter arm looks like it would plug in nicely into the arm mounting point on the cloak and I imagine the Marine chest piece mounts reasonably nicely onto the cloak. The cruz on the right arm probably hides any mess left over from removing the other arm mounting point. Looks good, I will have to remember this if I do any Space Wolves.

Further down here's me doing it (to a undead Inquisitor)
a bunch of photo's on there.
Mounting the space marine front to the back of a warrior of chaos is actually fairly easy, you just have to be good with green stuff. i wish i had photos like stayscrunchy does, but rather than give GW $35 for 10 thousand sons I bought a warriors of chaos box for 12 thousand sons! All I really did was mount the chaos space marine front, and arms and give em bolters. It's a good idea, and I love to actually examine them in person or with better pictures.
Found some old more photo's (I swear I'd put them up there, but obviously not. bah. Did LO junk a load of posts over xmas?)
- Please note the legs have to be altered, or the cloak cut away ( If space marine / CSM ones used if I remember right)
The chaos warriors really does have some outstanding bits in it - The champions skull helmet makes a cracking chaplain (and some of those swords are awsome)
Nice one, and a more than decent job too, keep it up!
