Right, so I've finished about 3k of Word Bearers CSM, and frankly I'm getting sick of red. However, I still love Chaos, and have decided to start up a multi-god daemon army as a companion list. As of now, I'm currently on the Nurgle section, after largely finishing the Tzeentchian.
Problem is, Nurgle daemon models are damn expensive, and you get very few of them for your buck! So I've decided that I'm converting my plaguebearers, and while perusing possibilities on the GW website, skeletons jumped out at me.
As I already have some Tomb King skeletons lying around (from the Skeleton Chariots box that made up most of my Tzeralds on Chariots), I'm using one as a test model. So I'm looking for ideas, comments, and criticisms on how to convert Tomb King and Vampire Count models so they look like nurgly daemons.
Ideas so far:
-instead of horn instruments, bells
-scrap of GS skin, with bits of sand to make them look boily and rashy
-adding horns, like antlers and single horns
-lots of Devlan Mud ink, green bones
I'll post pictures as I go, just the test model for this long weekend though as I have other plans and many unpainted Horrors to also contend with.
i once saw a nicely done conversion of bloodletters to plaguebarers using only a bit of green stuff for a few tentacles a single eye and a pot belly, the horns were cut off and used a s a single forehead horn and the swords were all chipped, if you combine those with some undead bits they would look pretty good
No love for Nurgly skeletons, eh? Hm, how about I just say they will represent plague zombies, then will I get any ideas or tips for modelling?
Flesh(or rather rotflesh) them up a bit with greenstuff so they will look like walking rotting carcacess?
Praise be to the Emperor!!
I am doing the same thing right now! I'm in a sticky spot though as I'm converting my AoBR space marines into chaos. I'm thinking chopping off some limbs and replacing with skeletons/ghouls and the like adding green stuff and spikes on the way. I think this is the best way about it so far, I can't think of any other ideas
I'm thinking right now of getting the Vampire Counts skeletons (as I get something like 15 for $30) and also the Vampire ghouls (10 for $30), I think I should be able to make 20 plaguebearers out of those two plastic sets. Unfortunately my tomb king skeletons + green stuff idea isn't working very well, my green-stuff skills aren't like my conversion ones so the rotting flesh and antlers just aren't looking right, and it's too small a scale to use plasticard or wiring.
ghouls could become some cool plaguebearers with some nurgly attention, pot bellies, guts hanging out, etc.
