Alrighty, so I'm attracted to the more unusual models and miniatures, something that usually is off the scale or just has something to it that screams PAINT ME! For me, that has been the Chaos force from both WHF and WH4k.
So, what the hell are the color schemes for Nurgle and the rest of the chaos gods (I can't even remember the names of the other three - old brain here and all). Do they have particular color schemes or is it just 'whatever'?
Also, chaos signs and symbols (yes I know the most obvious one *), is there a place where I can snag some pictures so that I can freehand them onto my miniatures shields, cloaks, whatever? I realize there is a Chaos Codex book, but honestly, I don't play the game so I'm not interested in buying the book. Anything online that you can point me to?
While I'm at it, if there are color schemes that I can be pointed towards for orcs, gobbos and the like, that would be helpful as well.
Now someone reading this will inevitably want to write 'just do whatever, its art'. Blah, blah, blah ... yes I know and to be even more truthful to that, I don't even play the game, so there are some of you that are going to ask, 'so why bother?'. Simply put, just because (smile). I wouldn't mind painting up a gob of miniatures and then selling them off (I don't really keep them anyhow) but I would like to keep the color schemes more or less inline with the game.
Anyhow, any help getting me in the right direction would be appreciated.
For the first; if your looking for miniatures the beg for paint, I can hounestly not see why your painting Chaos. But of course that's my oppinion and has nothing to do with the sake.
Looking at the homeside for Chaos on Games Workshop would maybe be an idea? If your painting Chaos, you should anyway get the Chaos armybook too. It contains all the information you need plus much more, like storyline, painting tips and much more. If you'll start painting, you'll soon end up playing too, and then you'll need the armybook too of course, and 12£ ain't really that much is it?
Well, to answer your questions.
There are four directions in Chaos-story that follows one God especial ach. The Gods are:
- Nurgle, Lord of Decay.
- Khorne, The Blood God.
- Tzeentch, Changer of The Ways.
- Slaanesh, The Dark Prince.
Nurgle: Nurgle consists of creepy, pollutionus, defected, plauged warriors, and creatures. Nurgles colors are often greenish, and their sign contains three circles in a circle.
Khorne: Khorne are frenzied, hardbarked, bloodwanting warriors. All that has to do with Khorne contsists blood. Khornes colors is red and other colors that can look like blood.
Tzeentch: Tzeentch are disqusting, creatures and magicians, who looks like animals, only 30000 times as ugly. Tzeentch's colors are often pink, purple and light blue.
Slaanesh: Slaanesh are demonish, kill thirsty creatures. Their colors are white, grey, black, and mostly pink!
The * your thinking about is the star of all Chaos, Chaos Divine. It's the eight pointed star.
As for orcs; if you don't know that orcs are green, you shouldn't be allowed to even think about Warhammer.
I hope you've goten some advice, but be sure to ask if there's anything else you wonder of.
I'm nOOb, even this Brazilian agree with me;

This is pretty helpful actually, gets me started in the right direction and it seems that I'm painting up a Tzeentch army as that more or less goes with the colors that I have started up two of the miniatures.
Anyhow, yes, I'm familiar with WHF and WH4k through the novels, artwork and the models that I view, but as I said before, playing the game isn't going to happen - time and interest just isn't there. Might try and pick up a Chaos book on the side for cheap though so I have some material to work with.
I'm curious though, what are the most popular armies/figures out there right now? Orks and Goblins seem interesing if for no other reason that I think the figures look good. Chaos appeals to me as I like to do 'off the wall' stuff as well as critters and they fit that.
The Tau are new since the last time I looked into WH4k. When did they come about? Seen some models that are very well painted for them though their back history and the like I have no clue about.
ACTUALLY, now that I think about it, the one group that has really been getting my attention for painting the last few days has been the Sisters of Battle, especially the gals that look like they have gone through a butcher block with no hair and red rags wrapped around their faces (what is their story anyhow?)
Anyhow, thanks for the input. It's all appreciated.
Paint Tau... lol. Look at necron lords signature picture... doesn't that inspire you!?
