Hi there everyone - I decided to stop messing with proxies and finally started my Exorcists SM project, and now I've got a few questions.
First, about Chapter House. I don't really care about their beef with GW, or the tournament legality of using their bits. I just want to know, does anybody have any experience with their shoulder pads? Namely, their Exorcist shoulders, pictured below.
and this one for the Terminators
There aren't any reviews for these on their site, and I haven't heard of anyone else trying them out before. I have enough blank shoulderpads to hand-paint my own icons, but I think that the scultped ones would add a little more class and "authenticity" to the conversions.
I'd also like to ask about the Micro Art 'Crusaders Legs'. My army is based on all of the Dark Angels robed and hooded bodies, with Grey Knight arms and such. I'm using GK Terminators for their bodies and arms (not about to pay just to have 'standard issue' SM termie bodies). I'd like to keep the robed motif though, rather than using straight GK legs. So I stumbled upon these legs from Micro Art.

I have heard that they're a bit large even for Termies, and make them look a bit more "truescale", but does anybody have any pictures of one of these standing next to a regular marine? I don't care if my Termies are a bit larger than my Tacs, I just want to make sure that everything looks larger to scale.
Finally, if I could trouble you for one final question - has anyone bought bases from Scibor Miniatures? I'm especially interested in the 'Celtic Ruins' packs, although they're all a bit pricey.
Thanks in advance for any help that you guys can provide!
I own three of those power armoured exorcist shoulder pads (I was going to use them for librarians at one point). Unfortunately they're at home (I'm at work), so I can't get too specific about them. Off the top of my head, I think I remember them being the proper proportion to GW shoulder pads. To contrast this, squad number shoulder pads aren't as curved as GW shoulder pads, for example. Something that you'll notice very particularly, but that nobody else will. To show this, every one of my marines in my project thread (link in sig) has a chapterhouse shoulder pad. That's the silver white metal that you can see in the unpainted photos. Otherwise look exactly like you see in the photo.
I love having a beveled chapter icon, though you run into hell when you do things like have to replace the right shoulder pad off the missile launcher arm. Makes conversion work where there otherwise wouldn't be any. The metal shoulder pad does add a little heft to an otherwise light plastic model, though.
If you have more specific questions, feel free to ask. Unfortunately I haven't seen the terminator version, so I can't comment on that one.
Great, thanks for the info, and have some rep while you're at it. So the casting quality is decent then, nice and crisp? That's the only complaint that I've heard from other sites, is that sometimes they get way too much flash on the edges, or that the details don't come out clean.
I see what you mean about them not being as curved. They look a bit shallow, they don't cover all the way to the chest like the traditional Marine shounders do. Not a problem, I'll probably just shave down the sub-shoulder (?) bit that you glue them on to. I won't have any trouble converting missile launchers or the likes, considering I'm running Grey Knight weapons and don't have anything shoulder-mounted.
So, does anyone have any info on the Micro Art legs, or the Scibor bases. The bases are a real shot in the dark, equipping the whole army will run me damn near $100 just for bases, and they don't even make them in a large enough size for my Storm Ravens
I have not bought the termie legs but I have bought their elf ranger legs and the casting was good can't really compare to much else (since I do not have too many resin models) I doubt you will be dissapointed with the quality of the casting

Good stuff. I searched the web for pics, and it looks like the Crusader legs are a bit tall, and a bit narrow for Termies. I can pick up all that I need for $24, or I can try sculpting the robes over the current legs by myself. Not sure how I want to proceed on this one. A lot of the Micro Art legs look more "dress like" without the split in the front. I think that I can probably get results more similar to the GW DA bits by sculpting my own. Oh well, won't know til we try huh?
Specifically the Exorcists ones, I was pretty happy with the quality of the three I received. Details were there and the cast was good. My only beef that I'd have with them is the larger "crest" that comes out above the shoulder pad (same style as on the GW Inquisition pad and a few of the DA pads). Something like that is nice on your HQ choices, but you'd think it would get obnoxious if you're having to twist your whole army around it.
I would definitely suggest throwing down a $20 to get a batch to look at (or split it up with other shoulder pads you might want to look at). I did that to start with and I've been giving CHS my money ever since.
