I very rarely base my models but apprently i can't enter a tournament with out them being based.
so my question is what is the best "snow" basing look?
as quite frankly £5.10 for 15g of "snow" from gw is a tad expensive
PVA glue topped with fine sand.
A watered down layer of PVA. (optional)
A dilute wash of a light blue or blue-gray color.
Pearlizing medium craft paint or white paint mixed with pearlizing medium. (This can be used as a highlight color or as a replacement for the white paint above.)
Mix PVA, white paint, baking soda and a tiny bit of blue wash and you have what I think is perfect snow basing, plus you can practically just paint it onto the base and it's instant thick snow with no messing about.
Baking soda (or sodium bicarbonate) can generally be bought cheaply in big boxes at supermarkets, its just a fine white powder used in making breads and cakes as a leavening (rising) agent.
Whoa. You can't play in tournaments unless your figures are based and painted? That's kinda weird.
I am steel and I am doom.
I march for Macragge, AND I SHALL KNOW NO FEAR!
yeah its some stupid rule they started to enforce, fair enough your army needing to be painted but based as well thats just dumb, now my army will never match a grass terrain again
Or simply they need to sell some more basing kits.Damn me for drinking that much acid...
Praise be to the Emperor!!
You can't beat baking soda for price. Very cost effective. I have had great results using Tech-star snow flakes. It is a micro baloon powder (super fine - so don't inhale near it).
Now offering an affordable Tournament Legal Quality Commission pricing. Find out more here!
I don't want snow, I live in Alaska man, cold enviroments are the last thing I'm thinking about. What I want is a kind of Chaos tainted base, lots of mud, small foliage(wilting), some rocks. That sort of thing, I've got clumps of green flock I could stripe with orange/yellow/browns to make it look dying, I have a large bottle of water effects that I am thinking I can coat the bases in to give them a perfect thick sloppy mud with. What do you guys think?
