Welcome to Librarium Online!
Been a lurker for a while and thought I'd put a post up here to showcase some of my work and garner greater feedback on how to improve my skill.
Been working on some necrons for a bit, and this is what I currently have:
These were taking on my phone, and I suffer from constant junkie / caffine shakes. So I appologise for the poor quaility.
I think I've done the shoulders and face a bit too thickly. But what do you think?
if you can make it out that is.
This year I'm concentrating on doing my Ogre Kingdoms, Necrons and Dark Angels. So if you like any of those, you'll be in for a treat.
As for as the face and shoulders being thick....they kinda are, but with white paint with a black undercoat, It's kinda nessesary. If it wasn't thick im sure it wouldn't be white enough. Actually taking a closer look, the shoulders look just fine thick, and you didn't seem to loose any detail on the face. Perhaps use an ink wash in the mouth, to really show those teeth. I love it dude, Cant wait to see what else you got
Oh, nice, I like the colour scheme. Clean and clinical. Suits you sir, suits you.
I'm looking forward to more.
And in case you should feel the urge to improve your photos, a minimalist light setup is easily done. Have a look in one of my posts here. Daylight is always preferable, be it outside or even on a window sill. And to stabilize the shots, you could use an object that's small and stable enough to rest your phone on. A jar, or stacked novel or two.
Indeed, quite an apt colour scheme for Necrons - it looks great!
White is a paint but I'm sure you've discovered that for yourself. I find working up from grey to white helps, but it still needs a lot of layers to look good.
What spot colours do you think would work with him? Thinking more for the blades, middle of the chest, globes and head fins.
Well I suspect the traditional Necron green wouldn't look out of place...
But if you were after something different, Gold or Red might fit. Probably any colour would fit to be honest, given the rest of the colour scheme is somewhat neutral.
