does anyone have a link to a guide for painting imperial fist from a yellow basecoat it seems to be highly effective but ive always built from a chaos black spray base?
painter for 11 years :) still love it.... hoping to one day win a golden demon wud be nice :P
This one can be kind of tricky. I personally don't own the darksun foundation (which is a HUUUUUUUGE help by the way) so I usually go with a grey first as it covers black really well in only one coat usually, then a few layers of sunburst yellow I think (the slightly less lemon one), when that's starting to get there I do some roughing up with white and then go over the white areas with the other yellow color (the one that does look like a lemon).

I found that most people tend to use white undercoats, as they clearly show up brighter colors better with less layers of paint.
White undercoat (otherwise your just making sure you need to do 3 more coats)
2 thin coats over the whole model of golden yellow.
Gryphon Sepia wash with water and a little Klear floor polish mixed in.
Rehilight with golden yellow.
Depending on how good you want them to look a possible fine edge hilight of yellow and white mix.
