I got an arachnorak from eBay and it was pretty much smashed in a fit of nerd-rage. It was pretty cheap and I refitted it and started painting it today. Here is a little taste of what I've done so far.
It looks like you have salvaged that spidy-thing quite well. I like the pale colours you are using, very gribbly. The red works well too and the way the claws get darker towards the end. I'll like to see this finished.
Thank you Leech. Whoever had this before didn't clean up the edges and and then it was literally smashed up(legs broken, howda ring is not in very good condition.). I filled the cracks with model master cement.
Update... Here are the pics of the progress as of today.
That is good progress you have made there. I think the work on the red is really bringing out the spidery look of this model. One suggestion, I think youn could add a little more shading to it where the joints of the legs are. A little black ink or watered down black paint applied carefully at these joins would reallu help to bring out the multijointed look of the spider. I do really like what you have done to the underside of the spider, it looks really big and gribbly there, very cool.
Also I don't mean to be nosey but I see a tank in the background of a few of the pics. If it is indeed a tank, can you tell me who or what lives in there?
Thanks Leech that is a really good idea. I haven't used inks in about 12-13 years but I'm sure I could get away with watering black down and give it a try. Also that is a tank and is housing 2 two year old tiger cichlids around 12-14" long and 2 two year old plecostomus(1 15" and 1 around 8".) Unfortunatly the motor and impeller burned up in it and I'm waiting for eclipse to sen me a new one, so their water has to be changed every couple of days. I'm suppose to go look at a 100 gallon tank next week so theyight be getting a new home soon.
Those are cool fishies. I like the long dark one on the log there.
Update I started basing: haven't started the howda. More pics coming soon.
Good to see this big bug getting the love it deserves after you saved it from Ebay.
