I recently snatched up a load of squigs, herders, squig hounds and squig hoppers for the giggle of it (they are cute, sue me). I would like to keep a theme with them more or less. Same colored squigs, the hearders all brought together with a common theme .. etc.
So, what do you fella's and gal's think would be a good color scheme? I would like to stay away from the typical red/pink bit as I think that is a bit overdone of late. I was looking at the GW website and their link to painting squigs and I have to say some of those appeal to me greatly as well.
I was thinking maybe some bright yellows, possibly lighter purples or blues. Give me some ideas if you would, and what you think is the more popular color scheme? Odds are I'm going to paint them up, try and keep as many away from my wife as possible, and toss them up for sale so I can buy some more minis to paint up (weeeelll ... I might keep one or two of the better ones!.
Anyhow, comments and thoughts appreciated.
I'm gonna paint mine in a sortof blood red highlighted with an orange, cause it just fits with my color theme. The Night goblins robes will be painted in a similar way just to fit in. Gonna be a unit so colorful you'll get snowblind by just looking at 'em ^_^
If i where you i would go with a Blue/purple-ish kind of theme. They have a good guide on how to paint teeth on the GW site, so you're all set on that part.
You can add spots on your squigs to give them an even stranger theme. Might be a bit over the top, i dont know.
My BF painted his all different colors... like purple, orange, yellow, green, blue... then he did the scales on some oposite colors of the colors he painted them... they look fun and awsome at the same time
Tomb Kings, Marines, Eldar
Well I painted up the first one last night and I have to say I am well pleased with it. As soon as I can get some good light and the camera I will toss him up here for comments.
Anyhow, I decided to paint with with GW paints and went with Lightinging Blue and Ice Blue which I did a heavy drybrushing of on his underbelly with to give it a lighter appearance. Then I did a very watered down yellow inking of the whole figure which worked out nicely with the ice blue as it gave it a greenish tinge but nothing too overt. I then painted up the teeth, horns and nails per the GW tip on their website and have to say that I was quite pleased with the result as this was the first time I've tried that.
Overall it came out rather well and I plan on painting up the other two squigs and herders over the next few days.
Now, if I can just find that damn camera ....
