I am planning a pre heresy thousand sons 'counts as' grey knights army. Besides the fluffy explanation of cult athanaean marines reading enemy minds and anticipating actions to greatly increase bolter fire efficiency, the models need to be more than conventional bolters. I do not want to use straight stormbolters as I am going for as fluffy an army I can pull off, so I need to have the models give an indication that they are not just regular bolters.
Here are a few ideas I have of making bolters look more stormy.
1.) Two slightly smaller diameter barrels.
2.) A storm bolter clip. Do you think this would be enough?
3.) a + b
I realize two barrels would go a long way in convincing people these are storm bolters, but I don't know, I still want them to be like normal bolters....I don't know. Let me know if you have any ideas or have seen anything to make bolters count as storm bolters. Thanks.
Also any fluff info on preheresy bolter marks would be welcome. Thanks again.
I think the storm bolter clip looks a little bit clunky for my personal taste, but having a double barreled gun without it doesn't make sense because it would run out of bullets in 10 seconds. Either way I'd keep the double barrel. The beefy look it gives it shows a lot more power to me.
I say its a good idea but try to get hold of drum magazines.
Praise be to the Emperor!!
I like the double-barrel look from option three. And I can't really tell the thickness of the metal piece. I like the sound of an ammo drum on the weapon. If you're needing larger clips, the ones from the rhino sprue are thicker than normal.
