I am comming up with ideas for terrain but i have no idea hopw to make hills. At the GW near me they have hills on thier boards and it looks really cool but i also dont know what they put over the whole board to give it that grass feeling
Well start off with a razor blade and pink insulation stryofoam stuff,
get a peice of insulations foam cut the foam into a hill shape thing, and then you can cover the hill into flock to make a grass effect.
To get pink insulation foam, they should have it at most hardware stores.
Damn straight homies! Of course tau kill SOB then they go on a pantie raid
Sorry McDohl you'll have to explain their hills more clearly so I can see how they're made. The insulation foam is a good idea but I've never been able to get any here in Ireland at least, not even in the faithful B&Q. Flock for the grass though is good but it sheds like a twenty year old dog.

Make hills made of styrofoam or polystyrene and simply stick it to whatever surface you feel like.
Cut into shape, paint and either flock it or put static grass on it...
Personally I also recoment trying to make hills from alternative materials, like simply building it up from cardboard or woodsheets after achieving the desired general shape just cover the piece over with filler, sand it down slightly and stick whatever you feel on to it...
Take a piece of Polystyrene and cut it to the size (area) that you want your hill to be (the bigger the ground area it covers, the more levels you'll be able to make it). Mount it on a piece of hardboard to prevent it from warping using PVA glue (many other glues melt the foam).
Now run a sharp knife or hot wire cutter around it at an angle to give you the sloping sides to the hill. Now, where the sloping sides meet the flat top, run some sand paper over it to round it off a little.
If you wish to add another level, cut another shape that will fit on top of the hill you just made leaving 1/2" to 1" gap all round (in effect, create steps). Again, angle this and sand the edge. This allows you to stand figures helf way up the hill if need be. You can glue this second level onto the first using PVA glue.
Alternatively, do not glue it on, just create it as a second, smaller hill, which will allow you to use it as either a stand alone low hill or as a second level to a bigger hill.
Whichever way you choose, once done, paint the whole thing Green using acrylic pot paint (don't use spray, it'll melt the foam).
When this is dry, water down some PVA (about the consistency of milk) and paint it all over the hill. Whilst still wet, scatter scenic flock all over the glued area.
Leave for about an hour and then shake off the loose flock and store for later use.
You should now have an acceptable battlefield hill.

Just use the GW site, it should fill you mind with ideas fairly quickly and easily...
Also if you have access to the "How to make wargames terrain" then try looking in them.
where in the uk can you get hold of that pink/blue insualtion foam, i cant find it in B&Q or homebase, but they have used it in my local GW.
Basically I would say you could proparbly get your hands on it at any place that sells home improvement stuff.
Just ask a carpenter or any other interior design guy and he should know where to get you hands on it.
