I was about to paint my Eldar Guardians and I began to think of the undersuits and the
armor. If you don't know, undersuits are the flexible suits underneath the platemail of a
model. In the Eldar Codex, the undersuit makes the model look very cut and lean with
sleek looking platemail. I need help on how to make the undersuits and platemail.
My main color will be black, possibly an all red helmet and mostly black torso/legs
because it is Ulthwe. How am I supposed to make the undersuits looks real? My suits
will be blood red with black platemail. Do I just paint the corners red after I prime it all
I would paint the undersuit then paint the armor. It would be very difficult to paint the undersuit after the armor.
Depending on what model your painting (i have ancient metal guardians) and you can see three different armor layers:
chainmail (back of the legs)
im assuming yours are similar. I would seriously paint the entire model the undersuit color, and then just paint over the armor with the armor color.
what color are you going to paint the chainmail? (look at the back of the guardians legs, i dont even know if current guardians have it)
For alatoic would u paint em like a white undersuit with deep blue platein? or yellow with blue???

Well, I would paint the undersuit white. But I'm a big fan of the colors/shades black and white, and I loathe yellow as much as I loathe space marines, which is allot. But do whatever you think will look good, I for one think a white undershuit would be best though.

use an ink for the undersuit to make it look really good after you finish paining. just dab it off where its on teh plates and then it will stick to the cracks whre the undersuit and plate meet.

Ok i just test painted some guardians and here are two schemes, that i thought looked good:
black undersuit, bleached bone armor plates (+ helmet), red eyes, red sight on gun
white undersuit, blue armor plates (minus chest plate) + helmet, orange eyes, brown thingy-ma-bobs, and black grips on the guns. then ink the sucker with brown ink.
I personally think that it always looks better to have a dark undersuit and lighter armour plates. In the case of Ulthwe this is trickier as they are, well, black. If (as you said) you want to mix a little red in there then I would think that the best way to do it would be to leave the undersuit black and just do some minor red highlights on the armour plates- they'll be dark n' moody n' cool!
