I was thinking of making a encapment for my high elves. It would have an outer wall that you tipicaly see on castels. In the middle it is going to have a a tower thats about a foot tall. sort of triangular shape with a crystal on top. on its sides it would have symbols and stuff like that. and in between the tower and the walls i would have tents. and the walls have a fancy sort of gate. How can i make this more elfish?
Try to make them tall and slender, without bricks, just plain smooth surface. Also, keep the adornments to a minimum, although some gems are always elvish
I also imagine the doors/gates/windows to be the gigh gothic type, tall and narrow, with a narrow top end, kinda like a spear head outline.
Also, don't forget some elven shrine, or other symbol in the encampment. maybe a the encampment was built up around a waystone. And I'm not too sure about the tents...if there's a wall and towers, I don't see the elven lords huddling in makeshift tents...
hope it helps...
Anything Elvish is usually symmetrical- most swords and spears for example, so it only makes sense their buildings would be. Everything is always very clean with the Elves too, so you don't have to worry about making it worn or anything. CryoGenFX covered most of it pretty well.
I would tell you to check the GW site, but you probably already did. And besides, all they have is a noble's house and a monument (looks like a fancy rock to me...).
Oh, and you might want to watch Lord of the Rings for some examples of archways and such. Ine the Fellowship, Rivendell and the Wood Elf place (I forget the name...) show off the Elf-style architecture pretty well. Plus, they're great movies.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.
