I just got a monolith for my necron army and i was wondering how to paint it?
The same theme as the warriors? I hate Necrons because they have these "already colored parts" in their guns, the green rods. Those things mess up all the models. Go with neutral colors that fit the rest of the army AND the green rods (GW u mothasuckas!
I'll go out on a wild goose chase here if you don't mind.
Most model railroad/hobby stores sell other colored rods. I have seen yellow, red, and blue, I also believe they had clear as well.Originally posted by zenarion@Jan 7 2005, 094

One suggestion that I would have is get a big "tank" brush and thin the paint. It will paint up much quicker.

As long as you use colours that work well with green they're fantastic! If you don't like green, well then your kind of *****ed... :pOriginally posted by zenarion@Jan 7 2005, 18:04

The monolith looks reasonably good as it's done on the box, basically just a lot of metal, but I think it should be livened up a little with some coloured (green usually...) areas, possibly with necron runes and patterns on them in gold.
Spray black, get the largest brush you have and drybrush it boltgun metal. Then brush a little mithril on the edges as well. Only paint any coloured areas AFTER the metal is done as that will be very messy, and absolutely do NOT glue on the green plastic before you're done painting. Use white (wood) glue instead of super or plastic glue as it doesn't fog up the clear plastic.
what the hell is a muthasucka...
anyway u can change the color of the rod with transparent paint.
"The daemon has many forms. You must know them all. You must tell the daemon from his disguise and root him out of hidden places. Trust no one. Trust not even yourself. It is better to die in vein than live in abnormation. The zeolys matyr is praised for his valor, the craven and unready are just abhored."

Transparent paint? Nuh uh, then it will just look like green rods with paint on them. Just look for the different coloured rods, they have 'em in most hobby shops.(non GW ones)
