I always thought the Defiler model was fairly average, so I decided to tear it in two and convert it. For the bottom I grabbed the flat body, the legs and one claw. I turned it around, slapped the claw in the open hole and made it look like a scorpion driven by a mutant. So now that has become my evil dreadnaught.
The problem is that I still want a defiler, and what I have left is the body with the battle canon. My initial thoughts were to mount that on the back of a Hellhound. I'd bend the roof of the Hellhound up to about 45 degrees, and then plant the defiler top on that. Then I was going to take out the side doors and put the defiler weapons there. And on the side of the cannon I would have these daemonic mutants trying to crawl out.
The problem is not in the execution, but in the concept. It looks fairly boring overall. It just ends up being, by and large, a defiler top on a Hellhound. My second thought was to get a chariot from Warhammer, do a bit of a conversion, mount the defiler top on the chariot and have it been towed along by a couple of daemonic hounds. But I think that is also fairly uninspired.
So, I have pretty much resigned myself to just sticking it on top of sentinel legs and just have it as a basic walker. So to save my from such a boring conversion, does anyone have any idea of what I could possibly do to convert the defiler? All I really want to make it a "defiler" is that battle cannon and a big claw. Besides that I'm happy to use whatever.
You could mount the cannon on a dreadnought...
