I was thinking about converting some wolves with plates of scale mail armor, sort of like lammelar, for my wolfboyz to ride. Is it possible to get thin enough plasticard for this? Or should I just use green stuff?
!!! what's this I hear?
another feral ork player using a wolf-themed army?
Brother! join me in the 'Ace Wove WAAAHG
in reference to your question, i think you're probably best off with green stuff. I havn't gotten to my "boar" boyz yet as I'm still converting my cy"boars" for my warmoss's bodyguard.
I don't have much time to write much of a post now, but fear not! I shall return
You can get plasticard (polystyrene sheet) thin ehough from Plastruct.com if that's the way you are interested in going. I think it would be a lot less work to cut out plates or panels of armor from plasticard as opposed to making them with greenstuff. You'll probably still have to greenstuff a lot of the details.
ooooh, that site beckons browsing eyes....!!! tiny kitchen appliences!!! thanks wolfR
EDIT: ooh clear plastic rods with bubbles in them still havn't found any plasticard, but I'm shure I will eventually ...ooh little buisness people!
I've done this to make chaos warhounds. Marauder sheilds, 4 for each wolf on the shoulders and the armoured wolf head for the head. It works well.

What is the armored wolf head? Is that still in production? What was it from?
It comes on the Goblin wolf rider sprue, 2 a box.
yeah, unfortuantely you can't even bitz order it because it actually is PART of the wolf rider sprue
I expect a lot of Orc and Goblin players will have some armoured heads spare, ask around and swap for your own spare bits.
this won't help much but it might help a little. being in a very similar boat to yours, I got my wolves out of the goblin wolf rider box. I figured I was getting a better than average deal on the wolves, and that I could use the goblins as grotz. look at it this way, for every 10 grotz you get, they come with 2 armoured wolf heads.
this dosn't help much if you wern't planning on feilding any gretchin, but if you were, it's almost a solution.
