Like the title says, I'm not too sure what I want to be doing. I wanna do something that makes it stand out from other Chaos armies.. which mostly I've seen a lot of black and red themes..
What do you guys think of something like purples and blues with whites, and gold for all metal (ie. armour, swords) etc. I'd have the flesh of animals (ie. hellhounds, horses) to be kinda ghosty with white and blue washes.. or something..
Anyways, throw me some ideas or thoughts
my armys colours are purplefor the main part.the trim is grayCOLOR=green]and the logo (a pitch fork) isredfeel free to use this scheme

How about using white with the blue/grey washes like you said as they look good. Then for trim/secondary colours use deep colours like scab red, regal blue and whatever the name of the GW purple is, liche purple is the deepest i think.
Alright, I'm thinking I'll prime it black maybe.. and then put the white on, then do the blue/grey washes.. should help avoid that cartoony look that I don't want on a Chaos army.
Do you think I should go with the all-gold metals armour / weapons like I mentioned?.. or would that contrast from the white washes too much (of the flesh and other items)?
As for what colors you should use - that is pretty much something you will need to decide on your own. I suggest searching the internet books, etc. for interesting color patterns that fit your need.
As for making something look less cartoony and more realistic that can be achived by doing several things. Avoid bright colors as this will lend to the cartoony look. consider darklining with browns and purples rather than black. Use muted more natural colors such as brown toned reds, mid range purples, etc.
There isn't anything wrong with Gold trim but I would avoid gold weapons. Especially if you are going for realistic. Gold is a softer metal and more easily pitted/damaged than steel and wouldn't be used for anything other than ornamental. You can really affect the appearance of your metals by using vaious inks such as chestnut, purple, green, orange, brown, etc. If you thin you inks quite a bit you will leave just a hint of color. Takes a while but it will really make some interesting colorations on your metal.
Just some additional food for thought.

Alright, I decided how I'm gonna color my dudes.. it's kinda a departure from the lines of thought I had before.. BUT..
White with earthy washes to give it a yellowy bone-like look..
Light blue highlights on armour and stuff like that.. while the main plate of the armour will remain white and washes as mentioned above, but also drybrushed silver on it.
Snow flock onto the base, and then black base.
Either yellowy horses or white white white horses with a bit of blue wash, havn't decided.
Any last suggestions on the scheme, guys?.. or even better, a suggestion for what pecific paints to get for the colors I want.. I mean, there are like, fifty gazillion shades of brown, and I'm pretty sure I won't need them all.
I have 10 Vallejo paints to pick, won a bid on 10 of my choice
edit: armor turnin out sth like this wud be great~... how did he do that?..
