I've been looking through the Ogre Kingdoms posts, i've read how two people paint their ogres, i've also seen the GW way to paint it. I really don't like mixing paints on troops i'm going to paint a lot of (because i may not be able to get the exact same color, and its a hassle trying to store excess mixed paint) so i'm asking anyone out there who paints Ogre kingdoms ogres to spill the beans, how do you paint that sexy ogre flesh ?
What i'm thinking is perhaps base-coating with catachan green, adding a layer of Chestnut Ink, leaving that color in the recesses and paint the raised areas rotting flesh.
I hate to break it to you but I think the best way to paint flesh is to mix the paints, I paint my Ogres the way the Army Book says and it has turned out pretty well. It achieves a good color and good highlights.
Here I am, Rock you like a Hurricane.

Ogre Kingdoms 4/1/1
Word Bearers: 2/0/0
when you mix remember it as half a brush full of this colour and half of this colour, or two half brush's of this and 1 full of that. Remember it and write it down, thats how i do it, oh and when you mix use the same brush, like when you mix one time don't use a tank brush, then use a really tiny one next time
well, i should be getting some ogres this thursday... if all else fails i'll do it the way they say to, but i'm gonna try the simple way first, i might switch catachan green for kommando khaki though... if that doesn't work i'll go to Wal-Mart and see if i can find a paint closer to the army book colors if that fails i'll break down and mix the paints.
Edit: I probably should say that i'm actually trying to get colors closer to the ogres on the cover of the book, not the green/grey skintone of the models shown. In which case i think rotting flesh would work well.
ahh yes thats the same way i want to get them, so what i did was i took the way GW gave us to paint the ogres, and substituted the Codex Grey with Rotting Flesh. SO instead of mixing a 3:2 of Graveyard Earth to Codex Grey, do it with a 3:2 mix of Graveyard Earth to Rotting Flesh
it might work
Or paint them black
If you want you ogres done quickly and with a pallied grey-ish look (nice blue tinge to it too! here's one way to do it. Base in black and paint them in hsadow grey first, leaving recesses black. Follow with dry-brush on codex grey and finalised with bleached bone highlights. And voila! Ogre skin is done!
Seen the final product and they look really good! Hope taht it helps!
The iron crowned is getting closer,
Swings his hammer down on him,
Like a thunderstorm he's crushing,
Down the Noldor's proudest king.
Under my foot, so hopeless it seems.
You've troubled my day, now feel the pain.
