It takes me about a day and a half to paint an ok model how long does it take you guys? :hmm: probably takes me longer than that
My Marines took me about 2 days each but my chaos are much quicker because i paint night lords and I spray them black so thats already done
cool but are they good quality marines with al little things like dry brushed and battle worn armour and things? :o hope not coz if so i just suk
On single character models I probably put in a good 10-12 hours from prep to finish. More if it is for a collector or competition.
I just finished painting up 30 plague marines in about 12-14 hours. These are very good game quality but I did not assemble or prime them (they were already primed and assembled when shipped to me).
If I am doing any real degree of conversions an additional 2-4 hours can be tacked on usually. Though it seems that most of that time is spent just looking at the model and building up the courage to hack it up!

My ork boyz, which I decided not to take very much time on, take me about 1 hr each, including basing. A standered model though, will take me about 4 hours. A higher end model will take me 8 hours, and some of my better stuff has taken me about 15 hours.
my Grey Knights take me around 45 minutes to an Hour, and they are good quality
[40k] - Dark Eldar
The librarian in my Avatar took me 4 weeks, on average 4 nights a week, 4 hours a night, normal terminators take me about half that time, SMs, depending on colour scheme, 1-2 weeks to do 2 marines
Everything you have been told is a lie!
Thanks guys thats a help coz i was wondering if i was rushing my models but now i know
my emperors dragon (SM chapter) take about half an hour if that as they are only painted to basic standards, my grey knights however take two - three hours as i put a hell of a lot of work intot hem, a squad of terminators from base coat to finsih took seven adn a ahlf hourse non stop painting.

Depends on the model, and the army. If I'm doing a Tyranid termagaunt, and have dozens of the little buggers to finish, all part of my Tyranid army that numbers over 100, I'll obviously only spend 20 minutes to half an hour or so on it...Even a rushed job like that means it will take me 50 hours or more to finish the whole army. Geesh! And more because I'd want to spend more time on the Monstrous creatures and whatnot.
Now, if I were doing an SM army where I only have 40 models or so, and I want each one to stand out, then its going to take me 2-3 hours for each.
I also play BFG, and painting them takes much less time (though it doesn't have to...you can get really detailed if you like). A typical fleet consists between 10-25 ships, depending on how many capital ships vs. escorts you take. With a drybrushing or ink wash technique, I can paint a whole capital ship up to a very high standard in just an hour or two; an escort only takes 15-20 minutes. That means you can get them on the gaming table sooner, which one of the reasons why I regard 40k as the better modelling forum, but BFG is a better game.
