I have a fun army that some of you may know of. IT is all cav. (YEE-HAA GO FAST!! So, I decided to make some Ellyrion Reavers. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THESE GUYS COST MONEY!!! (75$for 5) They were meant to look like REAL samurai cavalry.
You will need:
3packs of LOTR high-elf spearmen
5 unarmored Elven steed bodies
5 armored Elven steed head
5 HE archer bodies
5 HE archer heads
5 HE spearman arms (both pairs)
5 archive HE commanders legs (get the ones with the least armor)
10 archive space-marine sergeant back-packs
To start, clip the spear-tips from the HE spears, and swap them with the tips of the
LOTR spears. Second, glue the horses together (duh) glue the legs, torsoes and
heads on. Next add the spearmen arms. Last of all is the balancing act from hell.
You need to cut the banner poles off of the marines backpacks. Clip one of the
crospieces from each one to form a single right-angle banner pole. Glue two of
thee to each warrior's back. The result should be a lightly armored regiment with
it would be better to find some different spearmen (not LOTR) so they would be tourny legal, how hard can it be
do not underestimate a sponge, what they lack in movement they make up for in brain power.
I used LOTR for this particular conversion because they have narrow, slighty crescant-shaped blades, much like a chopping weapon as opposed to a lance. I have a second unit which is simply a conglomeration of bitz to make a really cheap unit of Reavers that is tourney legal. Thankyou though for alerting others to that little tid-bit, I had forgotten to mention it.
