So I'm wanting to use Catachan models for my Kroot because I don't like the way the Kroot look and would rather have Gue'vesa jungle warriors 'cause I'm running a jungle themed Tau strike force. I'm needing ideas on how to show the added strength and ap to their rifles(modified lasguns from the tau tech) and the extra attack added by the rifle(potentially a bayonet?)
doesn't Catachan have big enough muscles already?? but you could represent the extra attack with bayonets, as you said yourself... the higher AP on the other hand, i have no idea how to do... maybe extend the barrel of the lasguns with GS?
You might be able to use the bottom of a Pulse Carbine and put it on the bottome of a lasgun. You could also try to use a piece of Pulse Rifle filed down and then replace the lasgun barrel with it. Or use green stuff to make a new barrel. Any of these would probably work fairly well.

For the extra attack use the Kroot rifle spikes and stick em on the lasgun??
