I'm starting on collecting the Cadians now - just purchased the battleforce. What bugs me is the melta and plasma gun - they are avaiable only as full metal, non-posable minis. Hence the question - are there any sprues that could yield some decent amount of meltas and plasmas that would fit with the standard Cadian plastic minis?
this bothered me too, the only places i've found them are with vehicle sprues, wich could work with some conversion work.
For plasma, a good looking conversion which makes a plasma gun look a like is the one at the top first post 'Money saving conversions'. You only need a plasma pistol which if u ask a marine player you may be able to get a load (ASM get bucket loads).
If not there is a plasma gun orderable on its own. costs £1 per plasma gun i believe, however this is better than £3 per IG blister plasma holder.
Simple cutting should make it mountable on a standard trooper.
Ask SM players for plasma guns [jump pack guys coem with loads], swap them with some IG bits you have. Cut the lasgun in half and the plasma pistiol in half. Make sure you have the top part of the plasma pistol but the bottom part of the alsgun so the trooper can hold it.
You get a melta gun with the Space Wolves and its plastic.
the new els=ysian weapons pack is £12 and comes with 2 meltas, two plasma, 2 sniper, 2 grenade, 2 flamer and lots of bull pup lasguns, id say its worth is because the quality of the casting is supurb (lots of flash though) and the weapons also look more high tech than anyother special wweapons out there.
The Space Wolf sprue has a melta as mentioned above. The Chaos acc. sprue has a plasma gun. There are pewter plasma and melta bits available in the Space Marine line.
I was happy with the way that my plasmas turned out: I took the flamer from the cadians sprue, cut off the end of the gun at the little bracket that you glue the opposite arm to, and then cut the little bracket in half and cut off the top barrel of the gun. What it ends up looking like is one short barrel coming from the bottom of the flamer, with a little bit at the end. What I then did was take the space marine plastic plasma pistols, cut away the hands and a bit of the butt of the gun and then shaved away enough so that the top of the flamer and the top of the pistol were flush and glued them together. I hope this makes sense, as it is a little more complicated then sticking a plasma pistol on the end of a flamer, but it looks much better and means that it has a cool shoulder strap and you can connect the tube to some cool looking backpack to act as the energy or cooling device.
