i don't have the room or materials for painting yet, but i have assembled the assaultbikes of the marines. Now later when i will paint them i came to the conclusion that the wheels are gonna be difficult to prime and paint.
what are they paint like? just left primed or ?
am i getting concerned about nothing?
anyone got any tips? or advice?
if you leave them sprayed black they will look fine, as people will focus on the rider.
but if you want to spend a little more time on them, very lightly drybrush all the edges of the tread with codex grey, this is easy and will make the tire look much better, a VERY light dry brush.
i'm painting up a bike in a day or two, and i plan on drybrushing it heavilly with codex grey followed by a black ink wash, then a light drybush of scorched brown for dust... it looks good in my head lol :-)Originally Posted by melta

The small effort of drybrushing the wheels can make them look many times better. I highly reccomend that you do that. It's very simple. I haven't painted bikes yet, but it doesn't seem too hard... Good luck!
When i was painting my chaplain on bike i painted on shadow grey and then codex grey on the wheels, then i inked them 2 times with black ink. In the end they look like they are made of dark rubber.
btw does GW still make fortness grey?
You can find me on Dakka, B&C and Portent. :D
Portent never dies
They don't make fortness grey, but I think they still do make fortress gray.Originally Posted by plasmadaemon
When i paint my wheels i drybrush vermin brown over chaos black undercoat. I don't like black tires so this is what i do
You could also add some dirt splatters on them to suggest they are going through mud.
