Welcome to Librarium Online!
First Real WH Conversion YEAH!
So heres what I'm doing, I managed to find and old SM sergeant and I was thinking, "hmmmm, I need a priest" and thus I got an Idea.
So I started cutting and mixing some GS and have started assembly, I think the cooler part of this conversion is the backpack. Instead of putting a normal Power Armor Back Pack I decided to make it into a pair od speakers! I got this Idea ffrom the codex cause it says that the priests are awsome oratores that they make the squad there in go all KILL THE ENEMY thing, so I figured why not give him a Speaker backpack. I also gave him some simple GS robes and a few other touches. I'll post pics once I'm done assembling (GS has to dry!) and that way I can change it easily before I paint it!
Until I get the pics up just comments on the general idea would be nice!
Firstly I like the idea of speakers for his backpack and im fairly certain that you could user some of the parts from the new noise marines to represent these, as id have these coming over his shoulder, the only thing which im a bit confused about is what army is this priest for? if its for a sm one then i'd think that the chaplins would have something to say, you could however put him in a witch hunter army, as he's wearing power armour. but not in a guard one.
but post the pics then ill make me mind up
WARMASTER of the SCHOLA PROGENIUM Alnwick Chapter (soon to be the world)
So I assembled the pieces of my Priest and here it is:
I still wanna do something more robe like on the body and maybe down an arm but we'll see.
What do you think(Cronstructive comments plz!)
The basic problem with your picture is that it's not in focus. If you are using a didgital camera which has a macro or close-up mode, then make sure you switch it on (often this is indicated by a flower icon) otherwise, move back a bit. Obviously this has the effect of makeing your model smaller in the picture, but if it's close and out of focus, we won't see the detail anyway!
Personally, to me, he looks nothing like a Witchunters priest. He's too much of a space marine still. How about some kind of holy icon, or a more imperial/ecclesiastical looking weapon like a hammer, sword or some such. Look at existing priest models too, what makes them look like a priest? Your sculpting work looks excellent though, I'm rather envious!
Oh, and be careful of your abbreviations - WH can mean Witch Hunters or it can be Warhammer. When you're posting in a non-army specific forum like this one, I'd avoid 'WH' as an acronym. I think that's where the confusion arose for Decado.
The photo IS in macro my I have shaky hands see. Unfortunetly I have very few random bitz I can use. But I did just replace my Canoness' backpack with a jump pack so I could add some frire stuff from that. I REALLY want to do something different with the models left arm, but I have to bitz to speak of, but the bitz I DO have are all Tau and a few Necron green rods plus a tiny bit of assorted SM stuff. and that robe, it's mearly a piece of GS flattened into a semi round shape with a hole in the middle for the body. all those flowing 'waves' just came naturally as I pushed it into position, nothing extrodinary! The reason for the SM look is main;ly because he IS wearing power armor and all, and the screaming head went well with the backpack speakers. I wish i could file down the skull on the chest and put a fleurs-de-lys for something but theres no such piece really...I'll have to look at me SoB models and see if theres anything I can cut off. As I said I want to do a bit more robe type stuff on the body and I think I'll lose the shoulder pads so he don't look so bulked up.
Let me know what you think! And check out my Tank Bunker in the senery forum too!!!
If you can't beg or borrow a tripod, books can often come to the rescue for steady hands.
As for bits, you may have toresort to buying somthing if you just don;t have wat's needed in your box. Check out the Imperial missionaries, they have some backpacks and weapon components you can order seperately for a quid or two. Also an Empire accessory sprue or some Mordheim/Necromunda models might help.
