Welcome to Librarium Online!
Me and my friend have been wanting to play a match against eachother using bunkers for either army. We are currently putting together a bunker for the Space Marines, but we are having some trouble coming up for something that would suit the Necrons. What would a Encron Bunker look like? Made of some sort of crystalline mineral? Maybe a smaller version of a pyramid? We have a few sketches, but any ideas or thoughts would help alot! Thanks!
I think a trapezoidal-type bunker (like a pyramid/monolith with the upper point chopped off about 1/2 way up) painted in the living-metal theme would be pretty cool. It might also be neat to actually make it a mobile bunker with antigrav things holding it up -- that would allow them to use it and still phase it out in the event things went seriously wrong. Maybe it can set-up and anchor itself, and, as the battleline moves, it picks itself up, fires up the antigrav jets, and then floats on down to its new position. On that note, it might also be neat to have a portal on the rear of the bunker to allow necrons to enter and leave the portal without exposing themselves to heavy fire that might be coming towards the bunker.
there really isnt such thing as a necron bunker, thats not in there method of warfare, ever. They merely phase in to an area, kill things, capture things, etc. and phase out, no bunkers involved at all, a bunker would mean that necrons hold territory, this is simply not true, except for teh olden days when they werent mindless slaves encased in bodies of living metal...
If you wanna break the fluff then i would suggest you go to games-workshop.com and make the necron pyramid according to the tutorial in the necron section, although not a bunker, it is and outpost, which is rather similar and is essentially a very large bunker, in 40k terms..........
Fluff-wise, necron structures tend to be enormous temple/factory structures.
But I think you can twist the story enough to field a cut down version of the monolith. Living metal construct deepstrikes into the necron deployment zone, 14 armour all round, no weapons, no movement (perhaps more than 1 portal or a resurection orb to make up for the fact necrons can't camp inside it as a normal bunker sheilds troops?). Just think of it as a monolith tweaked so it's only purpose is to deliver troops from high orbit to the battlefield. I'll have to think up reason for it to bring in non-necron units somehow though.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
Thanks for the ideas guys! What I'm sensing is some smaller version of the Monolith. A pyramid like structure. As for why the bunker is there, i don't care about that. We wanted to play one of the Bunker type matches in the back of the rule book, so I just needed some ideas as what one might look like. And by making it look pyramidal, it can second as a nice piece of scenery.
I think that a good idea would be to use cables around a platform to make a mainframe looking peice of scenery
or you could have somenthin like a tomb with the monolith portal as a door, that wud look cool
Necrons could just borrow whats already there. I think that could work, and still sounds necrony. They get there, find they need some protection, and use it. So any Imperial, Eldar, Ork, Tau, or chaos bunker would work fine for them. The necrons aren't picky.
To build a necro bunker simply build a normal bunker and than at roof hight stat bulding a pyramid. Maybe have 4-6 steps for the pyramid. Probably 4 or 5. Paint it metal, the same metal technique as his necrons. Than with some Pink Foam modle 4 crystals that you could place at the 4 corners of the pyramid attached to the walls. Paint them green (or how ever the necron player would paint his monolith crystal)
Backround: It is small bunker/outpost that was a quick build to recharge fuel cells. The necrons happened to be inside the bunker/outpost at the start of the battle. They still don't have full fuel cells (for weapons or otherwise) so they keep in the bunker.
That should do well.
good idea, i may have to borrow it sometime...
Forgive me if this sounds complex, but...
Try building a bunker (like the one in the rulebook) and make it slightly larger, and add some extra features... I think, in the center of one of the longer sides you could have a stairway to the top, like Mayan/Aztec/Inca like... if you catch my meaning... you could also do something like an Aztec temple, where it has a long stairway to the top, and is basically one square tier under another... you could build three tiers, each one it's own bunker.
Sorry, I confuse Aztec/mayan/Inca architecture ... so bare with my stupid post.
You may die today
Come, we shall pray
For your soul
To reach the final goal
Breach our armor
The bullets will
But our spirits can never become a kill
