I've decided to start collecting Witch Hunters, but I've hit something of a fluff/model snag. I feel that whie Inquisitors do indeed use Storm troopers, I don't think that they would be the same as normal IG ones. IG Storm troopers are elite combat troops, made for rapid insertion and deep infiltration as part of a prolonged campaign. I believe that the army of an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor should be there to put the fear of God (quite literally) into the enemy. The Storm Trooper (and kasrkin) models are absolutely stonking, but they're just not scary, in the sense a space marine or ork would be scary. To this end I plan to create my own Storm troopers from the following parts:
The basis of my model will be the torso and legs of the Chaos Warrior Sprue. I will shave down any Chaotic iconography and undue spiky bits, as well as any rivets. I feel the armour is just archaic enough to keep the feel of the Ordo Hereticus, while - if painted properly - still keep a certain "futuristic" twinge. Even the capes add to the decisively archaic feel of the Witch Hunters.
Arms will be provided by the good old Adeptus Arstates without the shoulderpads, 'nuff said really.
Heads will be the much-used Chaos Termie head, used from Chaos Space Marines to Savlar Chem Dogs.
Weapons are the fabulous new Forgeworld Elysian weapons by Forgeworld. I will snip off the ends of the lasguins, and file down the mag and stock so the arm fits snugly to make my Shotguns. Special weapons will be used as is. Briliant.
Now this is good, but this means a squad of 8 will cost a whopping 36.80 pounds sterling. However, I shouldn't need too many...I hope, and it should be worth it in the end.
I dont think this will work, Space marines and chaos space marines body perats(as well as the chaos warrior ii'd assume) are much larger than a normal human, the end result will look rather mismatched i sure, although in consept it sounds like an excellent idea
Your idea is nice but i'd have to agree that the SM parts would be a bit too big, however there is nothing to stop you from using the cadian arms (or jungle fighters for that matter) instead of the SM arms.
